Round 26 is almost behind us, with one game left to play - Wolves vs. Arsenal. But that doesn't stop us from analyzing the finished games.
But first, what's UltiGameMate?
UltiGameMateTM is a fantasy football game where you gather points for the most exciting match events:
a goal gets you 10 points,
a save gets you 5 points,
a red card gets you 5 points,
a penalty missed gets you 5 points,
a change in lead gets you 10 points times the deficit,
a chase to equalization gets you 5 points times the deficit,
a goal difference bigger than 1 gets you 5 points × (diff − 1),
a shot on target gets you 2 points, and
a shot off target gets you 1 point.
The gameplay is quite easy: you pick three games per round, add some boosts, and gather points. Once the games are finished, the results are calculated and you see how you did.
Of course, you can play against your friends (or foes) in mini-leagues.
You can read all about boosts and points on the rules page.
Now let's analyze the high-scoring game this week.
Saves before goals
To my big surprise, the only goalless game landed the most point. And what a game that was! Forest was placing short all over the place - 35 shots in total. 10 short were placed on the target, but no balls crossed the line.
Forest 0 - 0 Wolves | |
Shots on target (13 × 2) | 26 |
Shots off target (29 × 1) | 29 |
Saves (13 × 5) | 65 |
Total | 120 |
Jose Sa’s unbelievable performance of 10 saves was the highlight here, even if it ended up costing Sean Dyche his job. When you factor in the Wolves' attempts and Ortega’s saves, the match racked up a total of 120 points.
It’s the ultimate proof that goals aren't the only way to find excitement in a game—sometimes the keepers steal the show.
